Al Gore Believes Obama Will Attend Copenhagen Climate Talks

Former Vice President Al Gore said Tuesday he believes President Barack Obama will attend the December climate talks in Copenhagen to emphasize his administration's commitment to safeguarding the environment, the AP reported.
While I have not spoken to Obama about the global talks, "I feel certain he will" attend, Gore said Tuesday on ABC's "Good Morning America.”
Gore promoted “ Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis,” his third book centering on global warming and the lack of political will to fix it.
Gore argues in the book for both a tax on carbon dioxide emissions and endorses the “ cap and trade” architecture favored by congressional Democrats and many large environmental groups, the New York Times said.
The Copenhagen talks are aimed at negotiating a follow-on agreement to the Kyoto Protocol, which required 37 industrial nations to cut carbon emissions by an average 5 percent from 1990 levels by 2012, when the accord expires, the AP reported. The U.S. previously rejected Kyoto as unfair and harmful to the U.S. economy, even though Gore was one of the negotiators.
