Democrats Make Necessary Revisions to Health Care Reform Bill

It was announced on Friday morning that distinguished Democrats in the House of Representatives would be making a series of revisions to their health care reform bill in order to attempt to sway undecided voters in their favor. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that House Democratic leaders worked into the night on Friday to come up with a compromise on how to settle the restriction of federal funding for the ever-controversial subject of abortion.
The details of the compromise state that federal funding would indeed be granted to cover the cost of abortions for rape victims, victims of incest or any circumstance where the pregnant woman’s life was in jeopardy. Despite reports that surfaced on Friday morning that indicated that the pending vote on the health care reform bill would be delayed until Sunday or until an unspecified date next week, the vote is expected take place as initially scheduled on Saturday evening.
While the revisions that have been made to the health care bill are unlikely to satisfy the demands of every House Democrat, the Democratic Party only needs 218 of its 258 representatives to vote in favor of the bill. According to Fox News, the Republican Party is planning to unanimously vote against the Democratic Party’s proposed health care bill. According to The Los Angeles Times, senior House Democrats have expressed their confidence that they would be able to receive the 218 votes that are required in order for the bill to be approved.
