George W. Bush and Laura Bush Visit Victims from Fort Hood
Advert
According to Fox News, former U.S. President George W. Bush paid a visit to victims of Thursday’s tragic Fort Hood shootings along with his wife Laura on Friday night. Although it has been well-documented that 13 individuals were shot and killed by former Army psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan, there were also 30 others who were wounded by the gunman during his rampage.
The former U.S. President and his wife visited those who are trying to recuperate and spent a considerable amount of time consoling them. Fox News is reporting that former President Bush and the former First Lady spent between one and two hours with the Fort Hood victims and their families in an attempt to try and boost their morale and express their sympathy.
While some may be relatively surprised that this gesture has not received more media attention due to the former President’s political notoriety, the Bush’s went out of their way to mention to Fort Hood’s base commander that they did not want the press coverage that would follow them if the visit had not been made in secrecy.
Those at the base who were able to see former President Bush and his wife described their moods as somber. They also mentioned that the Bush’s appeared to show deep concern for the victims who were shot by Hasan.
